Pricing & Quotes
How we price car shipping and what "fixed price" actually means.
Interstate car shipping costs depend on distance, vehicle size, transport type (open vs. enclosed), and seasonal demand. A typical cross-country auto transport shipment ranges from $800 to $1,500. Use our instant quote tool to get your exact, fixed price — the number you see is the number you pay.
Because we believe you should pay only when your vehicle arrives safely. Most brokers charge before pickup so they get paid even when things go wrong. We earn our payment after delivery — that keeps us accountable to you, not the other way around.
No. Once you approve the quoted price, it's locked in. We absorb any cost fluctuations on our end. The price you see is the price you pay — guaranteed. That's what our Fixed Price Guarantee means at SendMyRide.
Four main factors: distance (longer = more), vehicle size and weight (SUVs cost more than sedans), transport type (enclosed costs more than open), and seasonal demand (winter snowbird routes are pricier). We calculate all of this instantly and give you one fixed number.
100% free. No obligation, no credit card, no follow-up pressure. Get your price, think about it, and book when you're ready. The quoted price stays locked for 7 days.
Delivery Time & Tracking
How long shipping takes and how to track your vehicle.
Delivery time depends on distance. Most shipments within 500 miles take 2–4 days. Cross-country routes (e.g., NY to CA) typically take 7–10 days. We provide an estimated delivery window at booking and keep you updated throughout.
Yes. You'll receive updates at key milestones — when the carrier is assigned, when your vehicle is picked up, and when it's approaching the delivery location. You can also call or text us anytime for a live status update.
Delays can happen due to weather, traffic, or mechanical issues. We communicate proactively if there's any change to your delivery window. Your price stays the same regardless — no extra fees for delays, ever.
We specialize in the contiguous 48 U.S. states. For Alaska and Hawaii shipments, which require ocean freight, contact us directly at (786) 480-0222 and we'll help coordinate the best option for your route.
Carrier Safety & Vetting
How we choose carriers and protect your vehicle.
Every carrier in our network must have an active USDOT number, valid MC authority, clean safety record on FMCSA, and verified cargo insurance. We also monitor carrier performance through delivery history and customer feedback. Any carrier that falls below our standards is removed immediately.
Damage during transport is rare, but if it happens, the carrier's cargo insurance covers it. Before pickup, you and the driver will conduct a joint vehicle inspection and document the condition on a Bill of Lading. At delivery, you'll do the same. Any new damage is the carrier's liability.
SendMyRide is a licensed auto transport broker and car shipping company (USDOT #4247370, MC #1645829). We connect you with vetted carriers who physically transport your vehicle. As a vehicle shipping service, we handle logistics, pricing, customer support, and carrier quality control — so you get a seamless experience.
Yes. Open transport is the most common and affordable option — your car rides on an open multi-car trailer. Enclosed transport uses a covered trailer, protecting against weather and road debris. We recommend enclosed for luxury, classic, or high-value vehicles.
Payment & Billing
When and how you pay — spoiler: only after delivery.
You pay the carrier directly upon delivery — by cash or Zelle. No pre-payment, no credit card hold, no processing fees. You inspect the vehicle first, then pay.
After delivery only. Zero booking fee, zero credit card hold. You pay the carrier directly — by cash or Zelle — once your vehicle is delivered and inspected. That's our commitment to transparent pricing.
You can cancel anytime before a carrier is dispatched — no fees, no penalties. Since you haven't paid anything, there's nothing to refund. If a carrier has already been assigned, contact us and we'll work it out.
None. The price we quote includes everything — broker coordination, carrier transport, insurance verification, and customer support. No fuel surcharges, no processing fees, no "administrative" add-ons. The quoted price is the final price.
Pickup & Drop-off
How pickup works, what to prepare, and delivery logistics.
We offer door-to-door service as standard. The carrier picks up your vehicle at your location and delivers it to the destination address. In some cases, the truck may need to meet you at a nearby accessible location if your street has restrictions (low bridges, narrow roads, HOA rules).
Someone over 18 with a valid ID must be present to sign the Bill of Lading at both pickup and delivery. This can be you, a friend, family member, or anyone you authorize. The inspection is done together with the driver.
Remove personal belongings (carriers aren't liable for items inside), disable toll transponders and aftermarket alarms, ensure the car starts and the battery is charged, and keep the fuel tank at about ¼ full. Take photos of your vehicle's condition before pickup for your records.
Most carriers allow a small bag (up to ~50 lbs) in the trunk, but personal items are not covered by carrier insurance. We recommend keeping the car as empty as possible. Never leave valuables, documents, or fragile items inside.
Insurance & Protection
What's covered, what's not, and how claims work.
Yes. Every carrier in our network carries active cargo insurance. Before dispatch, we verify the carrier's insurance certificate, USDOT number, and safety record. You receive the carrier's insurance details before pickup so you know exactly who's covering your vehicle.
Most carriers carry $250,000 to $1,000,000 in cargo insurance per load. The exact amount varies by carrier and is confirmed before dispatch. For high-value vehicles, we can match you with carriers that have higher coverage limits.
Note any damage on the Bill of Lading at delivery — do not sign as "clear" if there's new damage. Take photos immediately. Contact us within 24 hours and we'll help you file a claim directly with the carrier's insurance. We stay involved until it's resolved.
Typically, your personal auto policy does not cover damage during third-party transport. The carrier's cargo insurance is the primary coverage. If you want extra protection, check with your insurer about adding a temporary rider, though it's rarely necessary.
